About the temple
The Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi is dedicated to Shiva as Vishwanath, "Lord of the Universe". It is counted among the twelve Jyotirlingas.
The temple stands on the western bank of the Ganga, in the city many devotees also visit for the river ghats and the evening aarti.
